For the past year and four months, I have been following a vegan diet and slowly changing to a vegan lifestyle. I decided to go on a vegan diet during a hard time, right before Thanksgiving. When I told my family and friends, they didn’t completely understand if I was going through a phase or if I was being completely honest. Either way, they tried to be as supportive as they could. But that didn’t save me from the “you are crazy” speeches and looks. They just couldn’t understand how you can live without dairy, meat, or seafood. The first couple of months were a challenge because it was like a new world. I had to make sure I was still receiving all of the nutrition my body needed. What I loved was the changes in my body, I had more energy, I was getting sicker less, and overall I loved how my body was responding to the changes in my diet. It was the best decision I have made and it was fun to discover cool vegan places to eat. You can read more about it in my NYC VEGAN FOOD GUIDE blog post by clicking here.

A  vegan diet is not just good for your body, but it’s also good for the environment and the animals. Since changing my diet, I’ve been working on changing other things I use like makeup, shampoo, etc to more environment and vegan-friendly products. The most important thing I learned is to always start somewhere and keep improving for the better.
